Slave to Time
What can I do about rushing around all the time? I just can't seem to get as much done in a day/week/month/year that I think I should. Hurry get the kids out of bed, hurry get them fed and dressed, hurry get to daycare/school/work, hurry get some work done, hurry go pick up the kids, hurry make supper, hurry bring them over to my friend's house for our babysitting exchange, hurry get them home to bed, next day repeat.
What is rushing? Running away or running toward? I think I am running away from the present moment. The present moment does not seem important. I need to get on to the next moment that seems more important, but once I get there, then what? Then it is not important anymore. This rushing comes from aversion to the present moment. Other moments in the future just seem more important than the one right now.
This is a deeply engrained habit of my life. I have had periods over the last few years where I have really worked with this, but when I let my guard down, this aversive habit creeps back in. Time to find my breath again. This breath is important.
