Do Good

I emailed a Buddhist nun to get advice on how to remain celibate. Her response was a little puzzling.

She said not to take the precepts to the letter and not to try so hard. She said to meditate, pay attention to your thoughts and intentions, and remember what the Buddha said:

"Do good
Refrain from wrong
Purify the mind."

Uh, ok. I was really looking for more practical advice like, take a cold shower or something like that.

But the do good thing came up for me a few days ago. I was looking at some children's Buddhist material online and found a site that set those words to music. Now I have that song going through my head! Obviously there is something in that message that I need to reflect on. I'll just follow the advice and see what happens.
